Boda and Fiesta Time

Well, the wedding we had been invited to came and went. Really. It was fast, total time 5 hours...and we missed the ceremony thanks to Map quest. Apparently, the vows were done in 5 minutes! I thought my ceremony was quick at 20 minutes! It was beautiful though. The wedding was set in the small town of Woodside in San Mateo county. My dh and I did a little mountain biking there in years past. It was a cute little town.

The wedding was at Thomas Fogarty Winery
where there is a great skyline view of the Peninsula. Mr. Fogarty was a Stanford Cardiovascular Surgeon and world-renowned inventor. He took up home wine making in the early 1970's in a small cabin on the current winery site. He planted his first grapes in 1978, and in 1981 established a commercial winery in the historic grape growing region of the Santa Cruz Mountains. On the 325 acre estate, the focus is on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and lots of Merlot and Sangiovese.
To be honest, I don't do wine. I did have a glass of red and white and they tasted the same to me. But, don't take my word for it. The other guest were raving about it, so it must be quality. The Visitor Center is open for wine tasting every Wednesday through Sunday between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

So, the meals were catered by a very fancy Italian Restaurant whose name I can't recall. But, this was my meal. A very delicious dill halibut, and the most tender fillet Mignon. The appetizers were all cut in 1 inch dainty squares. The scallops were the best. I could do without pate, however.

The theme of the wedding seemed to be very classy and unique and they certainly achieved that. The bride and groom looked happy and chic.

After the wedding the party moved onto the charming town of Los Gatos. Even the wedding party went over, since the wedding ended at 8pm. We has drinks and conversation at the Hotel Los Gatos. An upscale Mediterranean style hotel. It was very nice, but it didn't last long because you could go broke there. Then off to find food. Where else but
Pizza My Heart. I had a slice of a very yummy vegetarian. Pizza My Heart is all over the Santa Cruz mountains where you pick your slice and they heat it for you. It's all very fresh.

So, then we wanted to hang out with our friends still and catch up. They suggested a pub C.b.Hannigans, which I had never been to a pub. It was what I expected, dark, lots of heavy wood tables, lots of guys chumming it up looking real Irish, and an older bartender who had and Irish accent, of course.

We were greeted with a bag pipe player, because it was the weekend of St. Patrick's Day. Here are the guys doing a lovely jig.

Finally, it was time to hit the sack. I think we got back to our room at 2:45 am. The hotel we stayed in was so clean and neat. I soooo appreciate that. They gave a great government discount and had very helpful staff. I do recommend them.

Larkspur Landing Hotel
"The family of Northern California hotels, Silicon Valley hotels, Portland hotels, and a preeminent Seattle area hotel, offers a comfortable extended stay hotel experience, often with fully equipped in-room kitchens, free Internet, grocery shopping service, and in room entertainment like DVD players and music."

We had a great time seeing our Bay Area friends and having some time to our selves sans kids. It was just the right amount of time, and then I was ready to pick up my loves and go back home.
