Sew, Grandma, Sew

My grandma came to town today. This was good because she fixed my sewing machine. The top thread kept unravelling into the bobbin case and making a mess, thus frustrating me. She explained that I had to always start the first stitch slowly and make sure it threads properly. Okay. It was very simple fix and I can now say that my sewing machine was not broken, but it was operator error. Yeah, me lameooo. I could also tell by how my grandma kept saying, "oh, no. Don't do it that way."

I want to sew so bad. But once I get going on a project, I must damit (opps) admit I get intimidated by the machine. Even though I have the easiest, lowest model, that can only sew like 4 stitches. So, that is why my grandma and I made this skirt together. It's for my little girl. But it's so cool. I made pockets. Fancy. Although you can't see it well from this picture.

The bad news. My machine is not strong enough for this oilcloth. I was going to make lunch bags for the kids. I'll have to wait til I go to my grandma's other house where she had the super duty sewing machine. This material is so cute, though. Huh? This is what they were going to look like. Guess it'll have to wait.
