Birthday Weekend

It finally came. The day that I had a few sleepless nights over. The 5th birthday party. I had planned so much in my head for the decorations and goodie bags, but I realized I needed to get a grip and not spend too much on the day. And, of course, it was good and fine in the end.
There really was no theme. I loosely went with polka dots. The cake is a white cake with strawberry frosting and the cupcakes were strawberry with white frosting. Unfortunately, the sprinkles were really hard. But it looked pretty.

I was so glad the day was pretty. It was warm on the lawn.

S is officially 5. It makes me chuckle when I think about it. This is a new stage we are moving into, the school aged child. S is such a crack up. She sometimes acts like a little adult, a little girl, and a baby. She can whine like no one else and likes to control the scene. Who she gets that from, I don't know. She loves to act and tell a story, sing and dance. She's sassy and sweet and a ball of fun.

We had the pinata, as usual. It was the weakest pinata ever. I think it only got through 4 kids before it broke...on one of the kids head. I'm wondering if I should send it in to America's Funniest Home Videos. We got the jumper for the first time and it was a hit. Contained entertainment. Ahhh. The party hats we worked on were too tight, boo. But they were still cute and can be used as baggies. There were 8 less kids than I was expecting. Some got sick and some just couldn't make it. So 10 kids was a good amount to have after all. This also was one of the first times there were way more friends than family. We had a good time, but it's unfortunate that I have this huge family and only a few showed. I hope this is not the trend. It was actually great sharing the day with friends. I just want more family to be around us too.

It was a great day. The kids had a quick potato sack race and lots of bouncing and swinging and cupcake eating. Now on to the Christmas planning.
